Remote control cabinet is based on hot-swap-capable PLC, produced by well-known world manufacturers (B&R, Schneider Electric).

Remote control cabinet provides:

• power supply distribution for equipment of automated operational control systems at substation;
• receipt of control commands from automated workstation of power dispatching station;
• fulfillment of control commands through control and data acquisition modules;
• data acquisition from substation power equipment and through control and data acquisition modules in remote control cabinet;
• data transfer to automated workstations of power dispatching station.

Design of remote control cabinet provides convenient external networks connection and control units replacement.

Substation control level allows monitoring of actual mode and status of substation main circuit from operator's workstation of operational personnel.

Functional features of operator's automated workstation:

• displaying of substation single-line diagram with indication of all switching devices status and measured electrical values;
• providing of information in the form of tables and diagrams, displaying of trends (archival data storage period (trends and event logs) is specified according to technical specification);
• review of actual and retrospective events, review of event logs;
• switching devices control;
• report documents generation;
• sound and visual reporting about power equipment switchings, protection actuation.
  
  

Arrangement types of operator's automated workstation:

• desk-type (user carries out control sitting at the work desk and using PC and monitor. Input of commands is carried out from keyboard or using computer mouse);
• cabinet (touch screen, located in remote station or in switchgear);
• portable (laptop with possibility of session operation and transfer to another site. Laptop in active state can be left at substation for several days for statistics collection if required).

B&R hot-swap-capable PLC series X20CP3585 are installed into remote control cabinet and are applied for data acquisition and electrical equipment control.

Features of B&R PLC:

• possibility of "hot swapping" of units;
• are provided with USB interface for storage of internal logs on USB-flash removable media;
• are provided with minimum two built-in Ethernet interfaces;
• have a wide nomenclature of interface modules, i.e. Ethernet, CAN, RS-232/422/485 (Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU protocols), etc., for connection of equipment produced by other manufacturers;
• have modular type design. Each module (central processing unit, discrete signals input module, discrete signals output module, analog signals input module, analog signals output module) fulfills functionally completed function;
• discrete input/output modules with LED indicators, which show inputs/outputs status;
• PLC installation and dismantling (replacement) does not require special tools;
• PLC operating system (hard real-time);
• prompt replacement of application software using laptop;
• provide persistent event logging ("black box");
• have comprehensive programming tools, software tools for application software maintenance and modification.
