Light rail is a distinctive thing of Poznań city electric transport (Poznański Szybki Tramwaj). It is the only one light rail section in Poland with a length of 8,1 km (ca. 5 miles), that was opened in 1997 and connects Poznan densely populated northern districts with downtown. The line is totally surface-mounted: the smaller part goes along the overhead road (700 m), and the most part is located in the noise-protected notch. 6 stations are located on the line, traffic interval during peak hours is less than 2 minutes. Light rail is serviced by standard rolling stock, routes come along the speed section and lead to various city parts. A parallel line is built at the center because of the problems with pass-through capacity on the off-ramp near the speed section.

In 2019 in Poznań PLUTON experts put DC switchgear 660 V (1 unit) into trial operation at Bóżnicza substation.
